About Mrs. McClanahan
I am so excited to begin our 2019-20 school year together! First graders are a blast, and I know the year will be full of beautiful smiles and fun memories! I look forward to watching each student grow socially and academically throughout the school year. I can not wait for all the exciting adventures and friendships this year will hold!
I grew up in Frankfort, Kentucky and graduated from Western Hills High School. I earned a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education with Honors from Eastern Kentucky University. However I am an University of Kentucky Wildcat fan at heart! Go CATS!!! I have also lived in Maryland and moved to Georgia in the spring of 2018.
After teaching for 3 years in Fayette County, Kentucky I was blessed with the opportunity to stay at home with my children. When my children became school-aged, I went back to the classroom as a substitute teacher and was able to complete several long term substitute positions to stay current in the educational field. I am excited to be back in the classroom full time now as a First Grade Teacher at Minter!
I have an amazing husband to whom I have been married to for 18 years! My oldest child is a 7th grader at Whitewater Middle School and my youngest child is a 4th grader here at Minter Elementary. We also have two dogs, Sadie and Rex, who are full of energy! Our family enjoys spending time together, traveling, and going to Disney!
I look forward to getting to know my students and their families! Education is a partnership and communication is essential for a successful school year. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I am looking forward to moving ahead with our first grade adventure!
